Tacoma Power is offering a set of free workshops to help people learn how they can make changes at home that will save energy and money.
Heat Pumps
Saturday, Sept. 12, 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Learn the benefits of installing a high-efficiency heat pump system at home, including using less energy for heating and cooling, which will result in lower electricity bills. Tacoma Power offers up to $400 in rebates and $600 in other services to eligible customers who install a qualifying system.
Weatherizing Your Home: Pre-Winter Checklist

Learn easy no-cost and low-cost changes that will save energy and money on your heating bill. Get the details on how you can work with Tacoma Power to add insulation and energy-efficient windows to your home, and how the utility can help you pay for those changes with rebates and zero-interest loans.
Lighting Ideas and Design

Get all the information on energy-efficient lighting that will cut your power bills and still meet all of your lighting needs. You’ll get the scoop on how to save up to $3 each on compact fluorescent lights and $20 each on light fixtures.

Saturday, Nov. 14, 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Before making your next home electronics purchase, get some information from Tacoma Power on how much energy your new gadget will use. Get the skinny on smart strips, phantom power and “kill-a-watt meters” to learn how to use electronics in the most efficient way.
New Technologies/Creative Christmas Gifts

Get tips from Tacoma Power on the latest styles, functions and energy-efficient features of the new electronics that have been tempting you. We’ll let you know the scoop on how much energy different gaming systems use, the differences between LCD, LED and plasma TVs, and whether LED holiday lights are worth it.
