June 15, 2026

Last week, Tacoma Power employees recovered two Winter-run Steelhead, 450 Spring Chinook adults, 114 Spring Chinook jacks, three Spring Chinook mini jacks, and 71 Summer-run Steelhead over five days of operations at the Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery separator.

During the past week, Tacoma Power employees released 114 Spring Chinook adults and 32 Spring Chinook jacks into Lake Scanewa at the Day Use Park near Randle and they released 27 Spring Chinook adults and 54 Spring Chinook jacks into the Cispus River near Yellowjacket Creek. In addition, Tacoma Power employees released 31 Spring Chinook adults and eight Spring Chinook jacks at Franklin Bridge in Packwood.

As of Friday, June 12, 2026, Tacoma Power has recycled 286 Summer-run Steelhead and five Spring Chinook adults this season to the I-5 boat launch in Toledo.

River flow below Mayfield Dam is 4,210 cubic feet per second on Monday, June 15, 2026. Water visibility is 7 feet and water temperature is 51.9 (F). River flows could change at any time so boaters and anglers should remain alert for this possibility.
