July 7, 2025

Last week, Tacoma Power employees recovered 266 spring Chinook adults, 29 spring Chinook jacks, 103 spring Chinook mini jacks, and 139 summer-run steelhead over four days of operations at the Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery separator.

During the past week, Tacoma Power employees released 96 spring Chinook adults and eight spring Chinook jacks into Lake Scanewa at Copper Canyon. In addition, they released 73 spring Chinook adults and seven spring Chinook jacks at Franklin Bridge in Packwood and 58 spring Chinook adults and five spring Chinook jacks into the Cispus River near Yellowjacket Creek.

As of Friday, July 4, 2025, Tacoma Power has recycled 263 summer-run steelhead and 303 spring Chinook adults this season to the I-5 boat launch in Toledo.

River flow below Mayfield Dam is 2,320 cubic feet per second on Monday, July 7, 2025. Water visibility is 9 feet and water temperature is 54.1. River flows could change at any time so boaters and anglers should remain alert for this possibility.
