Cowlitz Fish Report

September 15, 2025

Last week, Tacoma Power employees recovered 73 spring Chinook adults, one spring Chinook jack, 27 spring Chinook mini jacks, 138 coho adults, 21 coho jacks, 118 fall Chinook adults, 55 fall Chinook jacks, 81 summer-run steelhead, and 30 cutthroat trout over five days of operations at the Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery separator.

During the past week, Tacoma Power employees released 17 spring Chinook adults, 34 coho adults, and five coho jacks at Franklin Bridge in Packwood. In addition, Tacoma Power employees released seven spring Chinook adults, one spring Chinook jack, four coho adults, and seven coho jacks into the Cispus River near Yellowjacket Creek and they also released 15 spring Chinook adults, 58 coho adults, six coho jacks, and three cutthroat trout to Scanewa at Copper Canyon Creek.

Tacoma Power employees released 94 fall Chinook adults, 43 fall Chinook jacks, 27 coho adults, and three coho jacks to the Tilton River at Bremer Bride.

River flow below Mayfield Dam is 2,410 cubic feet per second on Monday, September 15, 2025. Water visibility is 10 feet and water temperature is 54.4 (F). River flows could change at any time so boaters and anglers should remain alert for this possibility.
