Rental Light Program
Tacoma Power provides customers with private lighting options
- For a monthly charge, you can rent lights we install, own, and maintain on existing Tacoma Power poles (TMC12.06.300).
- When feasible, additional poles and equipment may be installed for an added charge.
- Construction times for new poles depend on engineering time, material, and crew availability.
- We do not install or maintain lights on buildings or non-Tacoma Power-owned poles.
- Private lighting is not intended to replace City or County streetlights.

A rental light may stop working and need maintenance. Signs that a light is starting to fail include staying on during the day, turning on and off, and not turning on. Contact the rental lighting repair line at 253-502-8353 or complete the rental light outage form for maintenance.
Older sodium vapor rental lights may be upgraded to LEDs as the old lights fail. The lighting will look different when replaced, and the cost may change. Please refer to TMC12.06.300 for more specific rate information.
Please note: If you report an outage on a light that you do not pay for, it may be removed if there is no billing account.
