On Tuesday, June 23, Tacoma Power will start a project to replace the high-voltage power lines that cross the top of the Murray Morgan Bridge, which spans the Thea Foss Waterway at East 11th Street in Tacoma.
Tuesday and for the rest of the week, bridge traffic will be restricted to one lane, alternating one way east and west, while crews conduct inspections and prepare to replace the lines. Crews will work to minimize the traffic impact by delaying lane restrictions until after 9 a.m. and restoring full bridge use prior to 4 p.m. The work will not cause delays in opening or closing the bridge for vessels in the Thea Foss Waterway.
Tacoma Power anticipates replacing the lines later this summer and will share that information when available.
The new lines will improve power system reliability in downtown Tacoma.
